You will need a minimum of two decks to start playing. Each player needs their own card game.

Adventures of the Elements is a host of cross-curriculum, highly engaging and motivational tools for teaching science. It is a revolutionary, research-proven approach to supplement science instruction that engages students Grades 4 and up, to increase science proficiency and accelerate learning.


Adventures of the Elements uses a multi-sensory scientific trading card game, professional development, an adventure book series, colorful periodic table poster, and interactive educational resources to provide effective and efficient science instruction. Adventure of the Elements educational products are a unique and effective way to introduce children to scientific terminology and concepts while incorporating other academic subjects areas such as History, English, and the Arts.

The books depict the saga of five brothers and sisters who discover sunglasses through which they can see the elements such as Ollie Oxygen, Holly Hydrogen, and Clifton Chlorine, who are personified into super-hero like characters. The children embark on an epic adventure with the elements to battle diabolical elements and molecules as they struggle to define a sense of self, honor, and ethics. It is a story of mystery, intrigue, fantasy, adventure, and science.


The AoE trading card game is designed to test wit, skill, strategy, and knowledge against the greatest forces in the universe. The concept behind the game is that the students do not have to know extensive science to play the game, but as they play the game they will learn more about Science, Math, History and the Arts. Students must combine elements to create powerful molecules, use the Palace of Knowledge cards to defeat their opponent’s molecules, and use strategy to protect their Character card to win the game. There is no luck in this game. Students select the exact cards they wish to play and therefore must choose wisely. Two starter decks are needed to begin playing, but collecting additional cards allows players to develop a stronger strategy.


The game and books enhance math and problem solving skills as well as strengthening student’s knowledge of science (especially chemistry) and contain no controversial materials. Many districts have used AoE to help their students prepare and show statistically significant gains in high-stakes tests. This has been documented through case studies conducted by the American Chemical Society and Lamar University.
